The Learning Curve
Information is data that has the propensity to inform. The volume is constant but infinite. Our objective is to
learn about as much of this information as possible - to convert Information into Knowledge.
SURVIVAL READING : The minimum amount of knowledge that we require in the short-term to pass an exam, to live and to keep our employment.
We have a myopic outlook on the world of information.
RECONNAISSANCE READING : Essential for growth, decision-making and strategic security. Includes knowledge about our environment -
what our colleagues are doing, what our competitors are doing, what is happening in the market-place, what is happening around us.
GENERAL KNOWLEDGE READING : Essential to give us wisdom and a broad perspective of the world around us. Enlightenment. Includes
novel reading, and an exploration of the arts, sciences, philosophy, politics, other spheres of business. Influences the way we perceive and
understand. Broadens our horizons and vocabulary. |
